vi /etc/ntp.conf
#Look in the internet for a time-server of your choice, preferably one within your country. If this ntp.conf belongs to a Linxu-client within your network, give it the IP of your alix-router in case it's retrieving time from internet and serving it already.

#fudge 127.127.1.0 stratum 10
#server pool.ntp.org
server YOUR.PREFERED.SERVER
server YOUR.SECOND.PREFERED.SERVER
server YOU.PUT.HERE.AS.MANY.AS.YOU.WANT

#Comment those lines for giving time to your internal clients.
#restrict default noquery nomodify
#restrict 127.0.0.1
:write :quit

chmod 755 /etc/rc.d/rc.ntpd
/etc/rc.d/rc.ntpd start


check how good the servers are functioning: ntpq -p

Configure Windows XP getting time from alix
Login with administrator, double-click where time is displayed, select Internettime, type the IP of your alix.

Configure Windows 2000 getting time from alix
Run CMD as administrator. net time /setsntp:192.168.0.1 #Assuming 192.168.0.1 is your Alix' IP.
